Is waxing safe during pregnancy?
If you are pregnant, or planning a baby, you may have some questions surrounding what forms of beauty treatments are safe to continue enjoying. There are so many things women need to avoid during pregnancy – sushi, saunas and sauvignon blanc (sob!) to name but a few, however there is something that they don’t need to give up – and that is waxing. Being pregnant is ‘a lot’ – a woman’s body works in overdrive for nine long months to grow and nurture life. Scientists have compared being pregnant to running a 40 day marathon, so it’s safe to say that as much as it is a magical time, it is also exhausting. Self care during pregnancy is a wonderful way to help support yourself holistically during this time. With a growing belly, it can become increasingly difficult to reach certain areas of your body – but we have you covered. Why not visit us and enjoy some pampering with a pregnancy safe waxing treatment so that you can still enjoy the benefits of hair removal without having to put any stress or strain on your body.
There is no right or wrong when it comes to how much hair is acceptable during pregnancy. Whilst no midwife will ever insist you arrive for checkups – or the birth! – hair free, if you do want to remove your body hair, it is totally fine. It may be worth just checking with your healthcare provider if you are planning a c-section as sometimes they advise women not to wax right before the procedure. For women who are postpartum, it is generally safe to have an intimate wax around 8 weeks after giving birth – again this is for you to decide according to how your healing has progressed. Prenatally, here at Eve, we take all necessary precautions to ensure you and your beautiful bump are positioned safely and comfortably during a waxing treatment. The only caveat is that pregnancy hormones can cause women to have more sensitive skin – so you may experience potentially heightened sensations during your treatment. You can further support yourself by applying natural products post wax, like aloe vera gel or unrefined coconut oil. These can help calm your skin as well as delivering another lovely and nurturing dose of self care to your beautiful, life creating body.
Pregnancy is a time for finding ways to rest and care for your mind, body and the baby growing inside you – so that you are ready for the wonderful changes that come with being a new parent. So, whilst being pregnant means you have to bid a temporary farewell to unpasteurised cheese and hot tubs for a while, you can rest assured that your leg, bikini and underarm hair can be safely kept in check with our help via a delicious pampering session here at Eve Beauty Studio.
